Digra 2007
Looks like my paper “Play with me: Exploring the autobiographical through digital games” has been accepted for DiGRA 2007 in Tokyo later this year. Although seriously, this cuts into my tiny toy buying time. It’s good to hear, though– we were going anyway, but maybe this means I can eek some funding out of somewhere. No word on the panel proposal– but here’s hoping. I’ve received some very helpful feedback on that paper, and I’d be keen to talk about it.

Why does my digital hate my biological?
Here’s the short version: I damaged my right shoulder with freaking micro-movements typing and using my trackpad, and now I’m a damned cripple who can’t use her laptop. (Yes, your clever observation may be that I am surely typing this blog post, but let me assure you– it is only with great effort and entirely using my left hand…I expect to be done this paragraph roughly in the next week…)
I cannot NOT use it! I know ‘I am a cyborg’ is old, but I can’t believe the compulsion to use the damn thing. My god — I’VE LEARNED TO TYPE WITH MY LEFT HAND. I no longer work right without the internet (mentally, I mean).
Also, should mention. This isn’t the first time this has happened (the shoulder thing–it’s like carpal tunnel of the shoulder, if that makes any sense). So I remember a bit of the physio– apparently broad movements of the shoulder help. Like push-ups and such (thanks to Camille for reminding me). So, I’m taking about it to Derek (specifically saying last time I shadowboxed through it), and he suggests– Wii Sports. Yes! of course! So I’ve started theraputic Wii golfing…soon to advance to rehabilitative boxing. Wii physio! Works great.
