The good news- I'm coordinating the Girl Power: Computers and Creativity summer camp for grades 6/7 at Simon Fraser University, and it's starting to look pretty cool. Now, does that mean if I think it's cool, then it's definitely *not* cool...hmm...
The bad news- I've finally given up on the DigitalGirl initiative for Digital Eve. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's much of a Digital Eve to resign from! I haven't heard a peep from the other Vancouver executive members in months, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the works in terms of events or initiatives. *Sigh* Has the passion really seeped out of the women/technology debate, or is this still an economy issue (still?)
On a related note, my advisor asked me the other day if I could suggest who may be the leading researcher on the issue of women's involvement in digital games. I should know that, right? It's an important issue. I can suggest Laurel or Turkle for girls, but for women, I'm just drawing a blank...
