02/24/2006 Archived Entry: "Slits 2: Pain is in the Eye of the Beholder"

This Saturday, TEAS (in cooperation with the Western Front) presents "Slits 2: Pain is in the Eye of the Beholder." Curated by Victoria Singh, the show explores "how performance artists communicate pain to the viewer in a manner that evokes empathic, visceral and sympathetic exchange without penetrating the skin? Is this possible? Is pain a unique sensation that relies on personal thresholds to register its intensity – rendering it an immeasurable, untranslatable experience?"

Each artist performs in an enclosed black plastic booth-- the audience views the works through slits sliced in the sides of these spaces. Creepy good fun! Starts at 8pm at the Western Front, Vancouver.
