It was in the DiGRA newsletter, so I guess I can share the news now-- the DiGRA 2005 Conference will be held here in Vancouver! Thanks to a fabulous proposal (with a cool mascot) and a great team, particularly Suzanne de Castell, Jen Jenson, David Kaufmann, Jim Bizzocchi, um, Justine, Florence, um...many, many others! OK, I've known for weeks, but the papers were just signed today. Changing Views: Worlds in Play will take place almost one year from now, June 17th-20th. Our mostly-SFU based conference team (yes, we all know about each other now ;-) is meeting tomorrow to formally cheer very loudly as a group, and might even get carried away with some impromptu high-fives-- forgivable, I think, under the circumstances.

Big news coming soon! I'm currently sworn to secrecy on something fabulous, but I'm waiting on the go ahead...

It's sad, but you had to see it coming. Americans really tumble into the abyss with their "Patriot" attack on the internationally acclaimed art collective Critical Art Ensemble and Steve Kurtz. Express outrage in a manner of your choosing. Artists fleeing the U.S. are welcomed in Canada.
